What We Believe
What We Believe
At the heart of our faith are key beliefs that shape our community and worship at our non-denominational, Holy Spirit-filled church:
-
Love as a Reflection of Discipleship: Our discipleship is proven through love for one another, mirroring Jesus’ love. This love confirms our devotion to God and signifies our legitimacy as New Testament churches. Jesus commands this love as our highest duty (Matt. 22:35-40; John 13:34-35; John 15:12; 1 John 4:7-21; 1 John 5:1-3; Rev. 2:4-5).
-
The Bible’s Authority: We trust in the Bible’s infallible, verbal inspiration as the complete guide for our faith and life practices (Psalm 119:160; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
-
The Trinity: We believe in one God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each equal in divine perfection (Matt. 28:19).
-
Creation: We affirm the Genesis account of God’s creation of the universe (Gen. 1-2).
-
Satan’s Reality: Satan is a fallen angel, opposing God and humanity, ruling as the false god of this age, destined for eternal damnation (Isa. 14:12-15; Ezek. 28:11-19; Matt. 25:41; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 6:10-17; Rev. 20:10).
-
Christ’s Virgin Birth and Sinlessness: Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life (Matt. 1:18-20; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22).
-
Jesus Christ’s Deity: Jesus is fully God (John 10:30; John 1:1, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19).
-
The Holy Spirit’s Role: The Holy Spirit acts on behalf of Christ in His churches (Luke 24:49; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:4-5, 8; Acts 2:1-4).
-
Humanity’s Fall: Humanity was created in God’s image but fell into sin, necessitating salvation through Jesus Christ (Gen. 1:26; Gen. 3:6-24; Rom. 5:12, 19).
-
Substitutionary Atonement: Christ’s death was a substitute for all, effective for those who believe (Isa. 53:6; Heb. 2:9; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 2:2).
-
Resurrection and Ascension: We believe in Christ’s bodily resurrection, His ascension, and the future resurrection of His followers (Matt. 28:1-7; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Cor. 15:42-58; 1 Thess. 4:13-18).
-
Salvation by Grace: Salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ, marked by repentance and belief (Luke 13:3-5; John 3:16-18; Acts 20:21; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9).
-
The Security of Believers: Those who trust in Christ for salvation are eternally secure (John 3:36; John 5:24; John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:35-39; Heb. 10:39; 1 Peter 1:5)
